TRAN THUY MY KY – IELTS 7.5
Dear KTDC, Mike and Daniel,
I have known about KTDC for quite a long time but it was not until last year that I decided to take two IELTS courses. At first, there weren’t vacancies in IELTS level 3, so, I took the Speaking and Writing class instead. This was when I got to know Daniel Spero, who is extremely dedicated in his teaching. Not only did he teach me how to write properly, but also how to quickly come up with ideas to speak fluently. He was insistent that every student practice English daily by reading news in English to upgrade vocabulary. He also encouraged us to listen to various English channels on TV to get accustomed to different accents. As a result, after my very first IELTS class, I could tell that my skills improved significantly.
In my second IELTS class, I had a chance to study with Mike DuVall, one of the most influential teachers that I have had the pleasure to meet in my entire life. At first, I read his biography and was astonished by his talent of singing and playing musical instruments. After a course with him, I knew the reason why he has become very successful. He inspired me through his devotion to his job, his determination and his energy. He also taught me how to manage time and make my own efficient strategy which helped me gain the result beyond my expectation.
I understood if only I had a goal in my life and believed in what I was doing; I would fight for it. Being a lecturer and working in the hospital make it almost impossible to follow my schedule to practice English. Nevertheless, I tried to study whenever I had free time. Sometimes I had to wake up a bit earlier to practice reading because I know morning is the most productive period of the day for me. After that, I spent time reading these essays over and over to understand clearly and study new words at the same time. In addition, I managed to listen to many topics even though it was noisy around to enhance my concentration. Every three days, I wrote both task 1 and 2 and compared my writing to other essays that people posted online. I also gained knowledge by reading and put it in my own writing. As for speaking, fortunately, I had a friend to practice with me 15-20 minutes a day (10 mins in the morning and 10 mins in the evening). There were lots of topics in Cambridge IELTS books, which I self-studied, book 7 to 11. Moreover, besides KTDC’s materials, I went online and studied from free reliable websites which Mike had introduced so that I would not forget what I have learnt.

Best wishes to you all,
